Melissa Leeke’s second grade classroomSat Maple Elementary was awarded a grant to add coding bots to her classroom. Mrs. Leeke used the bots to help students count up or down by ones and to practice vocabulary words from their Wit and Wisdom Language Arts Curriculum. Mrs. Leeke said , "The students are enjoying the bots so much and love having them to help enhance their learning!

Cassidy Sever, a Teacher Librarian at AMS South was awarded a grant to foster creativity and innovation while having"fun! Students at AMS South celebrated National Puzzle Day and National Sticker Day in January with some collaborative projects. Students are pictured using the puzzle mat provided by AEF to work together on a puzzle. Students also used the StickTogether Poster kit provided by AEF to reveal the image as they placed the stickers on the page (think paint by numbers with stickers). Students cultivated their critical thinking skills by working on the puzzles provided by the 4 different kinds of Rubik’s Cubes purchased by AEF.

Ms. Wigger applied for the Helping Hands Grant to fund an educational experience for over 150 students. One of the themes for the 2022-23 school year was 'Wild Animals'. This interactive experience with live animals stimulated learning beyond the regular classroom setting while utilizing the Indiana Foundations for Early Education which align with the Indiana Academic Standards. Students worked on skill development including those that support initiative, self-direction, interest, and curiosity as a learner.

Ms. Walker was able to introduce the game of Pickleball to students at Hickory Elementary. It is a growing sport that is becoming very popular. It is also a great activity to practice striking skills which is an elementary standard for all grade levels K-4 in Indiana.

Avon High School strives to set students up for success in their futures. For those in the broadcasting program, it's often college and then to a newsroom for a career. Prior to receiving the Helping Hands Grant, the broadcasting studio utilized teleprompters and paper scripts. In an effort to become more environmentally friendly, and provide a more realistic learning experience for students, the grant allowed the program to replace those paper scripts with live ones viewable on iPads. This allowed students to access the script writing software during the show, where they could see real-time changes made by the producer! It's a very professional skill/experience offered to successful TV-anchors and reporters. Students now have a "real world" hands-on learning experience.
